More so, the air Avatar before Kuruk does not appear to be Avatar Yangchen, the air Avatar before Aang. Kuruk was the previous Avatar who hailed from one of the water tribes, before Korra's time, but unfortunately, he was also one of the Avatars who lived a short life. In 345 BG, Avatar Kuruk was born into the Northern Water Tribe. Avatar Kuruk initially had grand plans to further unite the Human World following the progress of Avatar Yangchen. Kuruk—the Water Tribe Avatar—died at the age of 33 after his spiritual illness drained his lifeforce. Avatar: The Last Airbender fans know Kuruk as the self-described "go with the flow" Avatar, but there's a ton of history the series doesn't get into.
